Taxi Driver Robbed At Gunpoint By Passenger, Ordered To Drive To Oakland

A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco on Monday night by a man who demanded a ride to Oakland and then stole his money and cellphone, police said.

The driver, a 64-year-old man, picked up the suspect as a fare near the Embarcadero Center at Sacramento and Drumm streets around 9:20 p.m.

The suspect, a man thought to be in his late 50s or early 60s, brandished a handgun and ordered the driver to take him to Oakland, according to police.

He then stole the driver’s cellphone and money and was last seen in the area of San Pablo Avenue and 22nd Street in Oakland, where the driver dropped him off, police said.

The driver was not injured in the robbery. No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning, police said.
