SFPD Investigating Suspicious Death at Polk Gulch Store

Police are investigating a suspicious death at a store in San Francisco’s Polk Gulch neighborhood early on New Year’s Day, according to police.

San Francisco police said the incident, which was reported around 5:05 a.m. Friday, began when someone entered the store in the 900 block of Geary Boulevard and got into a confrontation with a store employee.

A physical altercation ensued between the victim and the store employee, during which the victim fell down, lost consciousness and later died, police said.

The San Francisco medical examiner’s office is not releasing the victim’s identity until their next of kin has been notified of the death.

Police are still investigating the incident and weren’t immediately able to provide more details on it this morning.
