SFFD Extinguish Two Small Fires at Golden Eagle Hotel in Telegraph Hill

San Francisco firefighters responded to the Golden Eagle Hotel in the city’s Telegraph Hill neighborhood twice this afternoon to extinguish small fires, a fire spokeswoman said.

A small grass fire was reported at about 2:40 p.m. in a backyard behind the residential hotel at 402 Broadway, according to San Francisco spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.

Firefighters responded to the hotel and brought the small blaze under control, Talmadge said.

But at 3:21 p.m., firefighters responded to the hotel for the second time today after smoke apparently began filling up rooms in the building.

Firefighters responded and found light smoke coming from a side window and a small fire on an exterior wall, beneath a deck, Talmadge said.

The fire was brought under control at 3:49 p.m. and there does not appear to be any extension to the rest of the building, according to Talmadge.

She said one person was transported to the hospital, but she didn’t know the nature of their injuries.

Talmadge said firefighters remain at the scene and that the cause of the fires remains under investigation.
