More Than 600 Marijuana Plants Seized From Bayview Home

Police seized more than 600 marijuana plants from a house in San Francisco’s Bayview District early this morning, a police spokeswoman said.

San Francisco police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan said officers were alerted to the grow operation in the 1900 block of Lane Street by fire officials.

San Francisco fire spokeswoman Jen Balestrieri said firefighters ent to the home shortly after midnight to investigate a report of electrical wires that were not properly grounded.

Balestrieri said wires that are not properly grounded create sparks that can ignite fires.
Firefighters remained at the property until PG&E crews were able to turn off power to the house and make repairs, according to Balestrieri.

Gatpandan said fire officials at the scene reported a possible illegal marijuana grow operation at the home around 12:45 a.m.

Officers arrived at the house and found more than 600 marijuana plants inside.

Police seized the plants but have not made any arrests in connection with the grow operation, Gatpandan said.
