SFPD Says Driver Contacted Police After Hitting Pedestrian

San Francisco police said the driver involved in a collision that left a man in critical condition early this morning in the city’s Yerba Buena neighborhood contacted police after leaving the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as a man, was struck around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Folsom and Second streets, police said.

The man suffered head trauma and a broken leg after being struck by the vehicle. The man was conscious after the collision, police said.

He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision initially left the scene but stopped and contacted police.

Police said the collision is still under investigation.
