Man Killed After Crashing Into Pole Near Golden Gate Park Identified

A man who died in a crash into a pole near San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Wednesday evening has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 56-year-old Freddie Brooks.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports of the crash at Park Presidio Boulevard and Fulton Street, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine if Brooks, a San Francisco resident, died from injuries suffered in the crash or if he had a medical emergency prior to impact, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

No other information about the crash was immediately available this morning.
