Men Shot in Bayview District While Working on Car

Two men who were shot while they working on a car outside a residence in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Thursday evening, police said.

Officers were notified of the shooting by a ShotSpotter activation in the area of Shafter Avenue and Jennings Street at about 6:20 p.m.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police said two men in their 30s were working on a car outside a home when they heard gunshots fired.

Both men were struck with gunfire as they tried to flee.

The victims transported themselves to San Francisco General Hospital, police said.

Both victims suffered a gunshot wound to their lower bodies. Neither man suffered injuries that appeared to be life-threatening, police said.

The San Francisco Police Department has not released a suspect description, but reported that a gray car has been identified as the suspect vehicle.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
