Man Stabbed While Sleeping on the Ground in SoMa

A suspect with a knife stabbed a man while he was sleeping on the ground in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early this morning, police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m., police received a report of a stabbing on Harrison Street near First Street.

Police said, based on the preliminary investigation, that the suspect approached the victim, a man in his 40s, while he was lying on the ground asleep. The suspect then stabbed the victim and fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

No suspect information has been released and the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.

Police said the victim is not cooperating with the investigation and is refusing to provide any details regarding the incident.
