Suspects Arrested After Robbing Couple in Bayview

Officers arrested a man suspected of robbing a couple in San Francisco’s Bayview District Friday afternoon, police said.

The two victims, aged 57 and 67, were walking down Carolina and 23rd streets around 1:37 p.m. when they were robbed, according to San Francisco Police Department’s Bayview District officials.

The suspect approached them and demanded their bags, cell phones and wallets, and told them to turn around and walk away once all of their items were handed over, police said.

As the couple were walking away as directed, they used a passers-by phone to call the police, who responded and found the suspect getting out of a vehicle in the Potrero Hill Housing Development.

After a foot chase, officers took the suspect into custody on 25th and Connecticut streets, police said.

Officers searched the area for the suspect’s accomplice, but were unable to locate or identify him Friday.

The arrested suspect, who was a parolee at large, was booked on robbery charges at the Bayview station.
