Public Hands Over 54 Guns During Visitacion Valley Gun Buy-Back Program

Police seized 54 guns during a no-questions-asked gun buy-back program in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood Saturday.

San Francisco police, in cooperation with members of the Ingleside Community Police Advisory Board, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee’s Violence Prevention Service Unit and San Francisco Supervisor Malia Cohen’s office, held a gun buy-back program in the parking lot of Gleneagles Golf Course at 2100 Sunnydale Ave., near the Sunnydale housing projects.

Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, police stood by as security while members of the public turned in guns in exchange for money without any questions asked of them.

Police seized 13 semiautomatic handguns, 11 revolvers, 13 shotguns, 17 rifles, and one assault rifle, for a total of 54 firearms turned in during the day.
