parking_meter.jpgExtended parking meter hours may still come our way. The MTA has released a 44 page parking study on the effects of longer meter hours, and will present to the supes tomorrow (2 p.m., City Hall, room 400). Some supervisors have already said yea or nea; on the yea side is bicyclist David Chiu, and with the nays is mayoral hopeful Bevan Dufty. Mayor Newsom is also opposed, saying the recession is no time to punish cash-strapped citizens.

Appeal readers seem to think otherwise, based on our commenters, many of whom said to extend meter hours and give the money to Muni. Muni does stand to gain significantly from the plan — $9 million to be exact.
