Suspect Fires Gun After Man Attempts to Intervene in North Beach Fight

A man who tried to intervene when another man was apparently abusing a woman in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood early this morning was punched and threatened, police said.

A 35-year-old man saw a man in his 20s hurting a woman around 2:15 a.m. at Columbus and Pacific avenues, police said.

The man tried to intervene but he was punched in the face by the suspect, who pulled out a pistol and threatened to hurt him, police said.

The suspect fired two rounds into the air and the victim ran away from the couple, police said.

The victim suffered a minor injury to his chin in the incident, according to police.
