9:57 AM: More on the 3 hour delays at SFO
(BCN) This morning’s wild weather is causing delays of up to three hours at San Francisco International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration anticipates the delays will last the entire day, airport spokesman Mike McCarron said.
The high winds and driving rain have delayed arriving flights this morning, he said, which in turn causes late departures.
While weather-related delays are not uncommon at SFO, McCarron said this morning’s storm is “a little more severe than normal.”
At Oakland International Airport, spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said the morning was off to a relatively normal start, despite the storm.
“We’re actually in really good shape in Oakland,” she said. “No delays and no cancellations.”
Flights at Mineta San Jose International Airport are also on time, spokesman Rich Dressler said.

8:25 AM: Power outages hit outlying Bay Areas, SF safe for now
(BCN)Stormy weather this morning has caused power outages for thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers around the Bay Area, a utility spokesman said.
As of 6:30 a.m., there were about 1,790 customers without power in the East Bay and 1,520 in the South Bay, PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said.
Utility crews were also responding to the Santa Cruz Mountains, where 700 homes and businesses were without power, Molica said.
6:58 AM: Flood advisory in effect until 12:15
(BCN)The National Weather Service this morning has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for parts of Marin, Sonoma, Napa, San Francisco and San Mateo counties.
Runoff from heavy rainfall is expected to cause elevated water levels and a danger of flooding in small creeks and streams.
The weather service warned drivers against attempting to cross roadways covered by standing water, as it may be too deep to allow vehicles to pass safely.
The flood advisory was issued at around 6:30 a.m. and will remain in effect until 12:15 p.m.
Roughly 180 customers in Marin County and 270 in San Mateo County were without power, Molica said.
6:45 AM: CHP warns of flooded highways
(BCN)The California Highway Patrol is warning commuters of flooding on highways throughout the Bay Area this morning.
Two left lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 are flooded at River Road in Sonoma County, CHP Officer Kevin Kroncke said, and all northbound lanes of Highway 101 are currently under standing water at Lucky Drive in Corte Madera.
Southbound Highway 101 is completely flooded in the right lane near its junction with state Highway 1, just south of Mill Valley, according to the CHP.
In San Francisco, nearly a foot of water has forced the closure of on-ramps to Interstate Highway 280 at King and Sixth streets, Kroncke said, who added the on-ramps will remain closed until Caltrans crews manage to clear clogged storm drains in the area.
The CHP is cautioning all motorists to drive with extreme care this morning and expect standing water on all Bay Area roadways.
5:26 AM: Hurricane-force winds warned of over Bay Area waterways
(BCN)The National Weather Service this morning issued an urgent marine advisory forecasting near-hurricane force winds on Bay Area waterways today.
The storm warning, upgraded from a gale warning issued by the weather service on Monday, was released at 2:45 a.m. for the San Francisco, San Pablo and Suisun bays, and for the western portion of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, forecaster Mark Strobin said.
Winds between 50 to 65 mph are likely, Strobin said, with hurricane force gusts reaching 75 mph possible in the afternoon.
Winds are expected to diminish below storm warning levels before midnight, according to the weather service.
The California Highway Patrol this morning issued wind advisories for motorists on the Dumbarton Bridge, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
