Truck Driver Making U Turn On Market Street Strikes Cyclist

10:39 AM: A commercial truck driver was cited for making an illegal U-turn after striking and injuring a bicyclist on San Francisco’s Market Street on Tuesday night, a police spokesman said today.

The collision was reported at 10:03 p.m. at Market and Front streets.

The truck driver, a 31-year-old man, struck the bicyclist while turning his vehicle around, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The cyclist, a 34-year-old man, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a broken arm and other injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Shyy said.

The truck driver was cited at the scene for making an illegal U-turn, then was released, Shyy said.

9:06 AM: A bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a commercial truck making a U-turn on San Francisco’s Market Street on Tuesday night, police said today.
