A woman killed in a fire in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood Tuesday evening was identified today as 85-year-old Jane Thompson of San Francisco, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The two-alarm fire was reported at 5:25 p.m. at a residence in the first block of Castillo Street near Geneva Avenue and spread to a second building, fire officials said.
Five other people were injured, two critically, before firefighters controlled the fire at 6:09 p.m., fire officials said.
Fire officials had not been updated this morning on the conditions of the five victims.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting residents who were displaced by the fire.
