It’s not just housing prices that are going up in the Bay Area, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures released Tuesday.
The Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, which reflects prices including housing, rose 1.2 percent for the two months ending with February, BLS officials said.
Over the past year, prices have increased 2.4 percent.
Energy prices, specifically gasoline, accounted for a portion of the increase, rising 3.5 percent over the past 2 months. Food prices rose only .2 percent during the same period, by comparison, according to the BLS.
Not surprisingly, shelter prices have also increased, 1.3 percent over the past two months and 4.1 percent over the past year, the BLS said.
An index measuring all items other than food and energy rose 1.2 percent over the past two months, and 2.9 percent over the past 12 months.
