A fire warning and a high-surf advisory are going into effect today and Thursday for parts of the Bay Area as windy, dry weather arrives in the parched region, according to the National Weather Service.
A fire weather watch for the North Bay hills will go into effect at 10 p.m. today. Windy conditions will increase the potential for fires to spread, weather officials said.

A high surf warning will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and is expected to last through 9 p.m. Friday along the coast. High surf is expected along all Bay Area coastlines, from Sonoma County to Monterey County.
Beachgoers are advised to watch out for sneaker waves and rip currents.
