11:02 AM 1/16: A 24-year-old woman suffered a broken leg when she was struck by a car near San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill on Wednesday evening, a police spokesman said today.
The collision occurred at about 6:35 p.m. near Vallejo and Sansome streets when the woman stepped off the curb to cross the street and a silver SUV struck her, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.
She was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, Shyy said.
The SUV driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Shyy said he did not know if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The incident is the latest in a string of injury accidents involving pedestrians in San Francisco. Several pedestrians have died in recent collisions.
The city’s Police Commission and the Board of Supervisors’ neighborhood services and safety committee are holding a joint hearing on the issue at 5 p.m. today at City Hall.

8:44 PM 1/15: A woman’s leg was injured when a vehicle collided with her while she was walking in San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill neighborhood this evening, according to police.
The collision happened at about 6:15 p.m. near the corner of Vallejo and Sansome streets, police said.
The woman in her 20s was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a leg injury. Police are continuing to investigate.
