A crash involving a San Francisco fire truck in the city’s South of Market neighborhood on Sunday morning left a firefighter injured, a fire department spokeswoman said today.
The crash, which involved a ladder truck and a sedan, occurred just before 11 a.m. near Fifth and Howard streets.
One firefighter on the truck and the driver of the sedan, who was alone in his car, were taken to a hospital, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
The firefighter was treated for a cut to his head and was released. The driver of the car was evaluated at the hospital and was found to be uninjured, Talmadge said.
The fire truck was responding to a call at the time of the crash, Talmadge said.
The truck’s driver and the tiller—the firefighter who steers the back of the truck—were tested for alcohol and drugs. It was determined that neither was under the influence, Talmadge said.
