A pedestrian who was killed when he was hit by a vehicle in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early Sunday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 47-year-old Michael Gutierrez.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a pedestrian struck near the Fourth Street on-ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 80 at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday.
The pedestrian, Gutierrez, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators, CHP officials said.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
