12:30 PM: BART trains were stopped systemwide for about an hour today because of a person on the tracks in Oakland, an agency spokeswoman said.

The person was reported on the tracks at 11:11 a.m. between the 12th Street Oakland City Center and West Oakland stations, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

BART crews shut off power to the tracks near the West Oakland station until the person was taken into custody at 12:14 p.m., Trost said.

The incident prompted East Bay-bound trains to turn around at the Embarcadero station in San Francisco and San Francisco-bound trains to turn around in Oakland, according to Trost.

Service was returning to normal this afternoon after the person was taken into custody, she said.

11:45 AM: BART trains are stopped in Oakland this morning because of an unauthorized person on the tracks between the 12th Street Oakland City Center and West Oakland stations, a BART dispatcher said.
