A 36-year-old man was arrested Monday after allegedly throwing pieces of concrete onto U.S. Highway 101 from a pedestrian overpass in San Francisco, a police spokesman said today.
The incident was reported at about 1:50 p.m. Monday on the Highway 101 pedestrian overcrossing near Bayshore Boulevard and Faith Street in the city’s Bayview District.
A witness reported a suspect throwing rocks onto the highway from the overpass, and police responded to find a piece of concrete the size of a football that had been thrown, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
Officers then found a suspect, later identified as San Francisco resident Patrick Joseph Wilson, walking along Faith Street, police said.
Wilson allegedly admitted to throwing the concrete onto the highway and said he “wanted to kill someone,” Esparza said.
He was taken into custody and booked into jail on suspicion of throwing an injurious substance on the highway, as well as an outstanding traffic warrant, according to Esparza.
No damage or injuries were reported.
