Presidio Heights Fire Shuts Down Doctors’ Office, Cafe

A three-alarm fire in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood on Saturday afternoon displaced four people and caused the temporary closure of doctor’s offices and a cafe.

The fire was reported at 2:32 p.m. in the 3600 block of Sacramento Street and was extinguished at 3:31 p.m., fire department spokesman Jeff Covitz said.

No one was injured in the fire but it caused an estimated $750,000 in damage to the building and its contents, Covitz said. The fire damaged 3609, 3611 and 3613 Sacramento St., he said.

Dr. Peter Carnochan was among the doctors whose offices at 3609 Sacramento St. were damaged.

Flames came through the ceiling and wall of the building, Carnochan said.

“We’ll not be able to use the office for quite a while,” he said.

He said he would have to work out of a colleague’s office while looking for a new space.

Dolce & Salato, a cafe at 3613 Sacramento St., had an outgoing message on its voicemail saying the business will also be closed temporarily because of the fire.

Covitz said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
