The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library will kick off its annual book sale, billed as the largest on the West Coast and now in its 45th year, this morning at 10 a.m.

The four-day “Big Book Sale” features more than 300,000 new and used books ranging in price from $1 to $5. The sale raised about $265,000 for education and literacy programs at the San Francisco Public Library last year.

The event takes place at Fort Mason Center’s Festival Pavilion and admission is free.
