San Franciscan Injured In Knife Fight With Wisconsin Man

A Wisconsin man was arrested early this morning on suspicion of assault after a knife fight in Santa Rosa that left a San Francisco man with wounds to his face and throat, according to police.

Police received a call around 2:30 a.m. reporting a man being chased with a knife on Mendocino Avenue near Fourth Street, according to Sgt. David Boettger.

Responding officers detained two subjects fitting the descriptions given and chased down a third who was attempting to flee.

Wisconsin resident David Prochaska, 26, was found to have multiple lacerations on his hand, and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim, San Francisco resident Derick Schell, was found at the corner of Fifth Street and Mendocino Avenue with multiple lacerations on his face and a cut on his throat.

Both the suspect and victim were taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, Boettger said.

Investigators have determined the victim and suspect were drinking in downtown Santa Rosa before the fight developed.
