BART officials are reporting delays of 10 to 15 minutes on the system this afternoon due to a shooting and other police activity in Oakland.

Police responded to a shooting in the area of 11th Street and Broadway that occurred around 3:09 p.m., according to Oakland police Officer Kevin McDonald.

Few details were immediately but it appears one victim was shot, possibly in the leg, McDonald said. The area was still locked down as of 3:45 p.m. while police searched for suspects.

A BART police official said a strong-arm robbery also occurred this afternoon at the West Oakland BART station shortly before the shooting.

As of 3:30 p.m., delays were being reported in and out of Oakland at the 12th Street Oakland City Center station in the Pittsburg/Bay Point, Fremont, Richmond and Daly City directions.
