Medical Examiner Seeks Public’s Help In California Street Death

The San Francisco medical examiner’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a homeless man who was found dead in the city’s Polk Gulch neighborhood a month ago today.

The man, believed to be about 60 years old, was found in front of 1572 California St., near Polk Street, at about 8:35 a.m. on April 15, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The man was found sitting on a plastic carton. He appeared to have no fixed address and had no identification on him, medical examiner’s officials said.

The cause of his death remains under investigation.

The man was white and was wearing a tan T-shirt, a blue windbreaker and a black hooded jacket.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact chief investigator Thomas McDonald at (415) 553-1424.
