Want to see the final plans for the redesigned Castro Street? Then clear your schedule for Tuesday night.
At an open house scheduled for Tuesday May 14 between 7-9 PM, final conceptual design for Castro Street between Market and 19th Streets will finally be unveiled.
According to the Planning Department, the redesign is intended to “accommodate the needs of the thousands of residents and visitors who use the street every day. Pedestrian safety and comfort are of special concern given the high volume of pedestrians combined with narrow sidewalks and busy street intersections.”
The Chron adds a little bit of a frowny face to the plan, noting that “local merchants are going to have to deal with the headaches from what could be a year of construction, which is expected to begin next January.”
City staff will, of course, be at the open house “to answer questions and listen to your thoughts on the conceptual design.” The event is being held at the Market & Noe Center, 2278 Market Street, between Noe & Sanchez.
