San Francisco police are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run Saturday night in the city’s Silver Terrace neighborhood that left a woman hospitalized.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said the 48-year-old woman remained at the hospital today and was being treated for head trauma. She was expected to survive.

The incident was reported at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Silver Avenue and Elmira Street.

Williams said the woman was crossing Silver Avenue near Elmira Street when she was struck. It was not immediately clear whether her head injury was from the vehicle or a fall after being hit.

Witnesses were not able to describe the suspect vehicle or any occupants of the vehicle, and investigators have not yet been able to interview the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s hit-and-run detail at (415) 553-1641 or the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. They may also text message the department using its new Text-A-Tip service.
