Police Dog Finds Robbery Suspect In Downtown Construction Site

Police arrested a robbery suspect in Downtown San Francisco after a search of an under-construction building that he fled into this afternoon, police said.

Officers were following a green SUV with a possible robbery suspect inside on Sixth Street at about 4:15 p.m., police said.

The suspect was a passenger in the SUV and ran from police into an under-construction building on Clara Street between Fifth and Sixth streets, police said.

Officers and police dogs searched the area and shut down streets in the area, heavily impacting traffic on Fifth, Folsom and Harrison streets.

At 5:08 p.m. a police dog found the suspect hiding inside the building and he was arrested. Streets are reopening in the area.
