A skateboarder who was fatally struck by a truck after rolling through a red light in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood on Wednesday has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 34-year-old Justin Stone.
Stone, a San Francisco resident, was riding his skateboard through the intersection of Eddy and Jones streets at about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a white pickup truck, police said.
He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he died at about 1:15 p.m.
The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with investigators. The crash remains under investigation but appears to be “just an unfortunate accident,” police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
