sfpd_squad.jpgA man was stabbed in the back by masked attackers in San Francisco’s Mission District on Saturday evening, police said.

The stabbing was reported at about 6:05 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Mission Street, near 16th Street.

Three people wearing masks approached the 33-year-old victim and asked him for money, according to police.

The victim tried to flee but was stabbed twice in the back, police said. He was eventually able to escape and was stopped by police, who began to help him.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspects are still at large. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
