police-light-bar1.jpgPolice today identified the two men arrested for allegedly firing shots from a building in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood late Thursday night.

Gary Gray and Zayah Pettittwood, both 32, were arrested in connection with the shooting, which was reported shortly after 11 p.m. in the 400 block of Ninth Street between Harrison and Bryant streets.

As officers arrived, they heard multiple gunshots fired and set up a perimeter around the block.

The Police Department’s SWAT team responded and by 1:15 a.m., two suspects came out to the street and were taken into custody.

Gray and Pettittwood, both San Francisco residents, were booked into county jail on suspicion of negligent discharging of a firearm, police said.

Gray was also arrested for an outstanding warrant related to the rear taillight of his car being out, according to police.

Police also recovered a gun at the scene, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

No one was struck by the gunfire, which prompted the closure of surrounding streets into the early morning hours.
