Two separate robberies were reported on San Francisco Municipal Railway buses on Sunday, police said.
The first occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. on a 5-Fulton bus near McAllister and Gough streets. The victim, a 31-year-old man, told police a suspect grabbed his cellphone and tried to flee.
The victim chased the suspect and caught him, but then three other suspects intervened and fought off the victim, police said. All four suspects then fled with the phone.
The victim, who bit one of the suspects on the leg during the struggle, suffered a large bruise and scratches on his head but did not require hospitalization, according to police.
The four suspects, three men and a woman, all believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, had not been found as of this morning.
Another robbery was reported on a Muni bus at about 11:50 p.m. at Mission Street and Highland Avenue, police said.
A 22-year-old woman was on the bus when a suspect approached and tried to take her cellphone. After a struggle, the suspect pulled the phone away from the victim and ran off the bus with it, according to police.
That suspect, described as a man between 25 and 30 years old, also remains at large.
