sfpd_gunpoint.jpgPolice have arrested two men suspected of shooting a victim in San Francisco’s Bayview District Tuesday night.

Just before 7:10 p.m., officers heard gunshots fired near Revere Avenue and Newhall Street, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said in a statement.

While conducting a search of the area, officers spotted a silver Honda driving at high speeds near the intersection of Third Street and Quesada Avenue, Esparza said.

Police tailed the vehicle and saw a passenger riding in the Honda toss a handgun out of the window, according to Esparza.

Officers continued to follow the car until the end of Quesada Avenue, where they conducted a traffic stop.

Simultaneously, a witness told a police sergeant patrolling the area near Third Street and Revere Avenue that a private party had just transported a shooting victim to a hospital.

Officers learned that, a short time after the report, a victim appeared at San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to the lower body.

Esparza said that the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police arrested the two men in the Honda and recovered the handgun, as well as the suspect vehicle, Esparza said.

The San Francisco Police Department’s gang task force is investigating the incident.
