Prescription drugs were stolen in two separate armed robberies of pharmacies on the western side of San Francisco on Monday, police said today.
The first robbery was reported at about 1:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Clement Street, which is near 20th Avenue, in the Richmond District.
Two suspects entered the pharmacy, pointed a gun at an employee and ordered him to get on the floor, according to police.
The suspects, described as two men in their early to mid-20s, then took a number of prescription drugs and fled the store. They had not been found as of this morning, police said.
Then, at about 6:40 p.m., two suspects entered a pharmacy in the 1800 block of Noriega Street, which is near 25th Avenue, in the city’s Sunset District, according to police.
The suspects also pointed a gun at employees and ordered them to get on the ground. The suspects were then directed to a cabinet that they ransacked for the prescription drugs inside, police said.
The drugs were dumped into a backpack one of the suspects was carrying. They then fled and remained at large this morning.
No one was injured in either robbery.
Police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said he does not know whether
the cases are related but said, “it does look like it’s possible, based on similar suspect descriptions and modus operandi.”
