San Francisco police today released surveillance footage and a sketch of a man who was seen entering a Tenderloin apartment last October with a woman who was later found fatally stabbed.

Early the morning of Oct. 21, 46-year-old Elia Cruz was seen entering her apartment in the 400 block of Eddy Street, which is near Leavenworth with the man.

Then at 1:51 a.m., officers responding to a report of a disturbance found Cruz fatally stabbed there, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The suspect is described as a mixed-race man between 26 and 35 years old who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was clean-shaven with long hair parted down the middle in braids, police said.

Investigators today were not releasing a possible motive for the killing, Esparza said.

Anyone with information about the case or the suspect’s identity is asked to call Sgt. Kyra Delaney or Inspector Miller of the Police Department’s homicide detail at (415) 553-1145.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
