caltrain.jpgNorthbound Caltrain tracks have reopened in San Francisco where a car was struck by a train, and normal service has resumed, officials said today.

No one was injured when northbound train 439 struck a car on the tracks at 16th Street in San Francisco around 5:30 p.m., according to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

No one was inside the car when it was struck, Dunn said.

Because Caltrain operates only hourly service this time of day on Sunday, delays were minimal, Dunn said.

Dunn said she didn’t know how the car ended up on the tracks.
