A plus-size women’s shoes company believes there’s still hope that they might reclaim their goods after dozens of the company’s shoes were stolen from a car in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Johanna Nilsson, a spokeswoman for LLXLLQ, said she was parked at 19th and Valencia streets on Monday evening when someone broke into the trunk of her car and stole about 50 shoe samples, all right-footed. The total value of the shoes is about $10,000, she said.
Because the shoes are all for the right foot and thus have no street value, the company is asking that they be returned with no questions asked since the theft has spoiled its holiday sales outlook.
“It’s a pretty large amount of value for a very small company,” Nilsson said.
For anyone who finds stolen goods, the company is offering a free pair of shoes or a gift card for $150.
In a comment posted to The Appeal, Nilsson said that the stolen shoes were spotted on “Tuesday morning (probably around 8/8:30). The shoes were at the NW corner of Dorland & Guerrero (closer to Dolores/17th), between 17th & 18th Streets. They were all together, in a big pile.”
“Has anyone seen the shoes since?” Nilsson asks.
Commenter “tb” responds: “I probably saw them on Tuesday night about 9:45pm on Guerrero between Dorland and 17th.”
“It was raining and I was in a big hurry to catch a bus,” tb wrote, “but a guy in a rain poncho was sitting on the ground in front of a garage on Guerrero, surrounded by a big pile of women’s shoes. He seemed to be sorting through them. The shoes were all in little individual plastic bags.”
