sfo03.jpgMore than a dozen flights to and from the East Coast have been cancelled this morning as Hurricane Sandy moves toward that part of the country, a San Francisco International Airport duty manager said.

Airlines have cancelled flights to and from six East Coast cities as the storm advances.

Affected airports include John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport in New York, Newark Liberty International Airport, Baltimore Washington International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia International Airport, SFO Duty Manager Nancy Parker said.

Several major airlines are also canceling flights to and from Logan International Airport in Boston, she said.

Passengers are encouraged to contact their airline carriers for information on their respective flights before heading to the airport today, Parker said.

Flight cancellations to and from the East Coast are expected to continue for up to 48 hours, she said.
