target-logo.pngA week after the doors opened at its first San Francisco store, Target officials announced Wednesday that a second store will be opening in the city in October 2013.

The announcement of the new store, a 119,000-square-foot CityTarget that will be located at Geary Boulevard and Masonic Avenue, follows the Oct. 10 opening of a store at Fourth and Mission streets in the Metreon complex.

About 250 employees will begin working at the Geary store next year, and Target plans to hold job fairs about two months prior to its opening.

Thousands of people came out to similar job fairs in August prior to the CityTarget store’s opening at the Metreon.

CityTarget stores are smaller than normal Target stores and are geared toward urban shoppers.

Target officials say the company has contributed more than $2 million to the San Francisco area since last year, including grants to local schools and chapters of United Way.
