Fleeing robbery suspects were arrested after they caused a traffic collision that injured a man in San Francisco Wednesday.
Police responded to reports that a victim had a backpack robbed near the corner of Sacramento and Fillmore streets at about 5 p.m., police Officer Carlos Manfredi said.
The robbery suspects jumped into a silver Mercedes SUV and drove southbound on Steiner Street, Manfredi said. The victim took note of their license plate number.
Police quickly located the suspects’ vehicle near the corner of Steiner and Eddy streets.
The suspects took off, but it wasn’t long before they crashed into a minivan and then a parked car.
The three suspects attempted to run away from the accident scene, but were quickly apprehended by police.
The driver of the minivan was injured in the crash and transported to San Francisco General Hospital. His condition was unknown this evening, Manfredi said.
Two of the suspects, both men between the ages of 23 and 30, said they were injured and were transported to the hospital as well, where they remain under guard this evening.
The third suspect was a juvenile male that was also arrested.
