police-light-bar1.jpgA pickup truck traveling southbound on Potrero Avenue to southbound Bayshore Boulevard fatally struck a male pedestrian early this morning, according to San Francisco police and the California Highway Patrol.

The adult male pedestrian, estimated to be in his 20s, was in the roadway near the U.S. Highway 101 underpass, close to the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard, Potrero Avenue and Cesar Chavez Street, when the Nissan pickup truck struck him at around 1239 AM, according to police.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

San Francisco police said the driver of the vehicle, a San Francisco woman in her 20s traveling with a male passenger also in his 20s, remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with the police investigation.

There has been no arrest and no citations have been issued.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said.
