porta-potty.jpegA baseball cap was found burned inside a portable toilet near San Francisco’s Pier 41 on Thursday, the second possible arson involving a portable toilet in the city this week, police said today.

The burned hat was found at about 12:20 p.m. Thursday at Pier 41, located between San Francisco’s famed tourist destinations Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf, according to police.

No damage to the portable toilet was reported, police said.

Police are considering the case as a possible arson, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The incident comes two days after a portable toilet was set ablaze on Van Ness Avenue.

The fire, reported at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Van Ness Avenue near Chestnut Street, spread to the tailgate of a 2004 silver Nissan Frontier parked nearby, Esparza said.

The fire was quickly extinguished and did not injure anyone, he said.

The blaze is also considered suspicious, but no arrests have been made in connection with the fire, police said.
