With all the impending BART strikes, H1N1 outbreaks, and horrendous earthquakes we deal with in the Bay Area, should employers consider telecommuting more seriously? The Chron found some folks who do, and they provided quotes!

We know what you’re thinking: Working at home is code for “lying naked on the couch with a bag of spicy Cheetos propped open on your tummy.” At least that’s what we thought (while thinking of where we could get a bag of that most delicious of non-food snacks), but apparently there are arguments for increased efficiency, attendance, and overhead savings for employers who allow even occasional telework. Also, according to the Telework Coalition, “business continuity” in the aftermath of The Big One. Because when the Appeal finishes digging out of the rubble, we’re going to connect to wifi and get right back to work! (No really, we’re reporters, that’s most likely what we’ll do.)
