Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle that fled after colliding with another car and causing a fire hydrant to get knocked over and spill water in San Francisco’s Castro District early this morning, a police spokesman said.
The hit-and-run was reported at 1:54 a.m. at the intersection of Castro and Henry streets.
A black SUV was traveling east on Henry Street when it broadsided a silver four-door sedan, sending it crashing into the nearby fire hydrant, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.
The hydrant was knocked over and spilled water until the fire department was able to respond and shut it off, Shyy said.
The SUV fled following the crash and neither the vehicle nor its driver had been found as of this afternoon, he said.
The driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash, Shyy said.
