sfpd_crimescene.jpgA man whose body was found in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Sunday in what police are calling a suspicious death has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 55-year-old David Borowy.

Borowy, a San Francisco resident, was found dead at about 5:35 p.m. Sunday near John F. Kennedy Drive and Bernice Rodgers Way on the southwest side of the park, police said.

Police have not released details about what might have caused Borowy’s death, but said it is considered suspicious.

Police Chief Greg Suhr mentioned the death when he appeared at a San Francisco Board of Supervisors hearing on Tuesday night to testify about safety concerns in the area near the Beach Chalet soccer fields.

The board approved plans to install synthetic turf and lighting at the soccer fields. Suhr has previously said that the lighting would help reduce illicit activity such as drug use and prostitution in the area.
