sfpd_squad.jpgSan Francisco police arrested 72 people Wednesday in a 10-hour sting targeting wanted suspects.

The operation netted 17 parolees, 50 people wanted on felony charges or warrants and five wanted on misdemeanor charges and warrants, according to police.

The San Francisco’s Sheriff’s Department, state parole agents and San Francisco adult probation officers also took part in the sting.

Police Chief Greg Suhr said police regularly conduct citywide operations on this scale in an effort to keep dangerous parolees and wanted fugitives off the streets.

“Targeted enforcement such as fugitive apprehension is a key piece of our violence reduction strategy,” Suhr said.
