shooting_nighttime.jpgA woman was shot while sitting in a car in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood this morning, a police spokesman said.

The shooting was reported around 10 a.m. in the 900 block of Ellsworth Street.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was sitting in a Buick when she began arguing with another woman, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

The other woman then left, and a man arrived a short time later and opened fire on the victim, who was still in the car, Andraychak said.

The victim was hit by the gunfire and drove away from the scene. She then stopped a passing police car at Mission and Brook streets to report the shooting, according to Andraychak.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital to be treated for her injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, Andraychak said.

No arrests have been made, and no suspect information was immediately available in connection with the shooting, he said.

The Ingleside Police Station’s investigation team and the department’s gang task force are investigating the shooting, he said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
