A 5-year-old girl was struck and injured by a car this morning in San Francisco’s Polk Gulch neighborhood, a fire dispatcher said.
The child was struck at about 8 a.m. near the corner of Frank Norris and Larkin streets, the dispatcher said.
According to CBS5, the girl and her mother were headed to kindergarten class at Redding Elementary School, which is located at 1421 Pine Street.
The child reportedly “emerged from between two parked cars and was hit by a passing car,” CBS5 reports.
According to a release sent by SFPD, the child was actually struck by a jeep driven by “a female in her 40’s.” The driver stopped and cooperated with police.
The child was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a possible broken leg, says CBS5.
According to SFPD, her injuries are considered non life threatening. The victim’s mother was not hurt.
“At this time no citation has been issued as this is still under investigation,” said SFPD at 10:50 Tuesday morning.
